Case Studies
Aged Care
St Patricks Green
Building specifications of an aged care facility and hospitals are similar, the users could have a slower rate of evacuation.
Problem
Space on the inside is limited due to a number of services like piping and ductwork. Where can the insulation be installed to provide both optimum performance and fire code compliance?
Application/Solution
Many would have considered moving the insulation below the slab, without understanding the risk of toxic mould on the residents’ health. Thankfully, the contractor presented options that he would see fit to use if the building was housing one of his family members. As a result, he recommended using XPS above the slab to minimise the condensation risk.
Good things happen when good people do the right thing.
Ballasted Roof
Cross sectional view of a typical IRMA or PMR roof where the insulation is used to reduce the thermal expansion of the slab and waterproofing. By insulating the slab, there is reduced condensation risk in winter when a non-porous insulation is selected, such as DePolyLine XPS grades.
